The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name address and contact details)
  • Serial numbers, for products (and the components within them) supplied to customers, firmware revisions supplied to customers.
  • Energy generation and usage and battery health data (when provided to us by the customer)

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • In order for us to provide you with a product or service, to assist in diagnosis and resolution of faults in accordance with warrantee or to provide an update on firmware where applicable.
  • In order for us to provide you with relevant information about our business or products.

We use the information that you have given us in order to provide you with and take payment for a product or service, to assist in after sales enquiries or diagnosis of faults, to provide relevant information on the products and services we offer.

We may share this information with delivery organisations in order to deliver the product or service to you, financial organisations in order to process payments and legal entities where required by law to do so.

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

  • Your consent. In the event that the customer chooses to provide us with data stored within the product (such as energy generation and usage data) they will be asked to provide consent for us to use and store this information. This data would only be used to aid in fault diagnosis, customer service and to improve our product or service. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting info@disconnectedenergy.co.uk.
  • We have a contractual obligation.
  • We have a legitimate interest including: communicating with existing clients to make them aware of updates for their product or of another, related product they may be interested in; notifying potential customers about our products or services; improving our products, services or communications for the benefit of our customers; identifying and preventing fraud; better understanding how people interact with our website and social media; or determining the effectiveness of promotional campaigns and advertising.

Wherever we process your data for these purposes we will ensure that we always respect your Personal Data rights.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored.

  • We keep Customer’s Personal identifiers in a customer service database on a secure drive for 5 years . We will then dispose of your information by permanently deleting it from the drive and any associated back-ups.
  • Customer number, product and component serial numbers and firmware updates provided to that customer in a customer service database on a secure drive for 5 years . We will then dispose of your information by permanently deleting it from the drive and any associated back-ups.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
